There are a number of advantages of Google Plus over Facebook and other similar social media tools.  Google executives put their engineers to task creating a direct response to the existing social media outlets and book marking services like Facebook, Twitter, Digg and Del.icio.us .  When Google Plus was first introduces as a trial in June of 2011 it was an instant success. By combining the best features of the top social media sites; Google Plus is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with. Within a few weeks Google + was already servicing over 10 million web users. There are a number of advantages of Google’s system over Facebook’s Like button and the other guys.
Google Plus is a lot like Facebook’s like button in that it is a clickable icon that can be placed on web pages and allows users to recommend the site to others by clicking on it.  The button denotes that a pages content is useful and has been recommended by others.  Unlike the Facebook Like button, statistics related to Google Plus clicks are now an integral part of Googles search algorithm. More clicks will tell Google that webpages are important and will result in improved search engine rankings. According to Google, +1 clicks will both increase a web traffic and improve the relevance of visitors.   While the technology behind the Plus button is complex; it is extremely simple to add to a website.  All you need to do is visit Google and pick the size and language you want!

Advantages of Google Plus: circles and sparks

The Circles feature allows users to effectively group their contacts. Google Plus acknowledges that there is some content that people may not to share with everybody. Circles can include family, friends, relatives, coworkers, and the like. The Circles feature is far more user friendly than Facebook’s groups. All you need to do is drag and drop contacts into the appropriate Circle.  What’s more the feature includes “Hangouts” and “Huddles.” Specifically, you can video chat with friends in hangouts. In fact, you can conference with up to 10 people. All you need t do is click the “Welcome” button and choose which contacts or circles you want to add. A huddle on the other hand puts people to engage in group chat sessions on their  mobile device. These features are quickly making Facebook seem archaic.

Another cool feature are Sparks.  With Sparks you can quickly share videos, pictures, and articles with your family, friends, and co-workers. All you need to do is click on the “Share” button and you will be given an opportunity to select which circles or individual contacts you want to share content with. What’s more, the Sparks feature presents a drop down menu that automatically predicts your topic when you search.

Advantages of Google Plus: privacy features

Google Plus’s privacy features are far more advanced than that of Facebook and Twitter. The privacy features ensure you only share content with those that you want to share it with.  In short, you do not have to worry about Grandma viewing content that was intended for your buddies at the tavern! Another great feature is that no one can be added to a circle with out your permission and there is a feature that stops a contact from sharing your content with others.   In addition, users are given the option to edit a post after posting it and you can choose to disallow comments.  All in all, there are a number of advantages of Google Plus over the other guys.
